As one of the few women in IT, I’ve seen how the industry still struggles with gender diversity.

My journey began in banking, but my true passion has always been figuring out how things work.

Growing up with two brothers, I was always the one assembling toys during the holidays.

In 1995, I decided to return to school to deepen my knowledge of Information Technology, graduating with honors. I spent a decade in IT healthcare, focusing on email servers and their integration with clients like Outlook, and early devices like Palm Pilots, Blackberries, and Apple products.

For years, I taught Microsoft products and wireless device management to large corporations. Then, in 2007, my life took a turn when my husband became a real estate agent.

About a year into his career, I started asking him some critical questions:

1. Why are you still using your Yahoo email?
2. Why do you keep returning home for that file on your computer or office?
3. How will you stay connected with your clients?
4. Why is your name on your website?
5. Why are you entering information in multiple places?

His responses were always the same: "I don’t know" or "I don’t know a better way." I did know, so I shadowed him for a few weeks, determined to streamline his business. I researched Real Estate CRMs that could integrate with a properly configured business email address, consolidating all his contacts, calendar, and files in one place.

When he shared my solutions with other agents, they began reaching out for help. Initially, I was hesitant, but I quickly realized this wasn’t just a problem for him—it was an industry-wide issue.
